Abstract
Desde la premisa que en política exterior el "comportamiento" de cada Estado está determinado por ideas claves y fuerzas materiales, el presente artículo analiza la incidencia de estas variables en la política vecinal de Chile y Bolivia. El énfasis principal del trabajo se encuentra en la etapa contemporánea, caracterizada por las reformas que ha desarrollado el gobierno del Presidente Morales, las que estarían generando una nueva relación, marcada por un mayor acercamiento entre ambos países. Esto pese a la presencia de ciertas ideas claves que no coinciden con las que ha promovido Chile en los últimos años.
